New Projects
It feels too long since Ive updated my blog, but as of now I've been working lots of overtime in hours. Ive recently got back into painting and worked on a one day graphic design project, which was to design a poster for a music event taking place at Hannah's Bar in Liverpool on 5th November to promote the launch of 'Object of Dreams' Magazine. I completed the poster from scratch within a few hours and I'm just completing a couple of adjustments and adding some further information to the final poster.

Muddy Pawz
Muddy Pawz is a self created narrative based on the daily life of my maltese terrier puppy. He is always getting up to mischief of some sort everday. The story is based on his habit of curling up in the flower pots of my garden and becoming rather dirty, having that all that precious white fur. The narrative continues to explain the process of moving from the garden to the bathroom and the routine of bathing and drying him back to normal.
At the start of creating this narrative I produced an observational sketchbook, capturing my puppy throughout his life amongst our house: playing, sleeping and being curious. This was quite an exciting challenge to capture his energetic personality. Here are various samples of favourite sketches.

ROUGH TRADE RECORDS/CD SAMPLER DESIGN PROJECT
Various photographs of a university project: develop 3 sampler cds for an independent record label and design must be heavily influenced by hand written typography. I chose Rough Trade Records and my 'text' was influenced by my idea of presenting my personal music: notes from lessons, personal pieces and instructions.

THE SCHOOL OF LIFE
The brief for this project was to develop an identity for The School of Life (A Social Enterprise based in London that offers ideas for living in harmony). My final idea revolved around 'the tree of life' which reflects five subjects which the courses/holidays at The School of Life specialize in: love, play, politics, work and family. These subjects are illustrated through various elements growing out of the branches in specific areas of the tree. Throughout the duration of this project I constantly reminded myself how I intend to create a design that was flexible and capable of being presented in different colours and scales. In the end I applied my final design and individual elements of the tree to a variety of packaging designs, which finally developed into a gift box set.

Graphic Arts Degree Show 2009
Displayed are various photographs of my displayed work at our final year degree show at Liverpool School of Art. This includes a vinyl cut of my 'tree of life drawing' which associates with The School of Life. And a display case showing a postcard booklet with postcard designs and an open page of my one of my sketchbooks. And finally 'the greatest hits of typography' a series of typography designs, each letter of the alphabeat indivdually designed by individual students, including my letter 'G'.

CORALINE
Just got back from cinema and seen Coraline. I knew it was directed by Henry Selick who was director of the nightmare before christmas, this increased my hope for the film even though it was not originally created by Tim Burton (whos illustrations and film concepts ive admired for a long time).
I certainly was not disappointed!! Possibly the most beautiful animation Ive ever seen!. But what fascinated me the most was the originality of the story. The whole idea of Coraline being sent into a world where all the things she despises in the real world are vanished and all her selfish wishes are granted (roast chicken/cakes on the table for tea and what she calls respect from her parents) and finally her realising of how good her life actually is in the real world when she has experienced 'perfection'.
Id go on and on, but do not want to spoil the plot anymore than I have done! :-)
